Driver license requirements

Foreign driving licenses are valid in the Philippines for up to 90 days after arrival. Beyond 90 days, you must convert your foreign license to a local one. Plan accordingly if your stay is longer than three months. It is recommended to carry an International Driving Permit (IDP).

(1) Participation Fee (Deductible): Renter pays a fixed out-of-pocket fee (typically ₱15,000 per incident) for any insurance-covered exterior damage. (2) Loss of Use (Downtime): Renter pays a daily fee (50% to 100% of the rental rate) for every day the van is grounded in the repair shop due to renter-caused damage. (3) Interior Damage Exclusion: Stains, tears, or broken interior fixtures are not covered by insurance and must be paid 100% out-of-pocket by the renter. (4) Mandatory Claims Filing: In an accident, the renter must provide an official police report, photos of the scene, and third-party driver details within 12 to 24 hours, or the claim is voided. (5) Insurance Voiding Clauses: Coverage is completely canceled, and the renter becomes fully liable for all costs : if the van is operated by an unauthorized driver not listed on the contract, driver is Under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUI), and renter went beyond the legal passenger/weight capacity (overloading).
