Comprehensive Insurance Conditions Do NOT Cover ​ ​Collision with Another Vehicle or Object: This is the most significant exclusion. If you hit another car, a pole, a building, or any other stationary object, the damage to your vehicle is covered by collision insurance, not comprehensive. ​Damage to Other People or Property: Comprehensive insurance does not cover the costs of injuries to other people or damage to their vehicles or property in an accident you cause. This is the purpose of liability insurance (specifically, bodily injury and property damage liability). ​Mechanical Failure or Wear and Tear: Problems with your car's engine, brakes, or transmission due to normal use or a mechanical breakdown are not covered. ​Damage to Personal Belongings: Items inside your car that are stolen or damaged (e.g., your laptop, luggage) are not covered by auto insurance. This would be covered by your renters or homeowners insurance policy. ​Medical Expenses: Your own medical bills or those of your passengers after an accident are not covered. This requires Personal Accident (PA) insurance or other health insurance. ​Intentional Damage: Damage you intentionally cause to your own vehicle will not be covered. ​Negligence: Conditions that result from negligence, such as damage from driving while intoxicated, are typically excluded.
